Microneedling Q & A

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is also called collagen induction therapy, or CIT. It is a minimally invasive procedure Dr. Boucher uses to rejuvenate skin, restoring a youthful look. He also uses the technique to improve the appearance of scars caused by acne, stretch marks, or surgery.

Dr. Boucher uses a handheld microneedling device to pierce your skin, creating hundreds of micro-channels with minimal damage to the skin. This action stimulates the body’s natural healing ability.

The process causes micro-injuries, triggering the release of cytokines, which restore collagen and elastin and strengthen the skin. Blood flow to the area increases as the body attempts to heal itself. New skin tissues and blood vessels form, and the skin becomes tighter and firmer.

What happens during the microneedling procedure?

Dr. Boucher discusses your medical history and goals for cosmetic enhancements before determining your customized treatment plan.

Dr. Boucher conducts microneedling in-office and applies a topical anesthetic to prevent discomfort. The entire procedure only lasts 30-60 minutes, depending on the treatment area.

Most people feel a slight vibration during the procedure. After the treatment is complete, you may experience mild swelling and redness in the treatment area for several days. You may notice results in as little as a few hours as the swelling goes away.

What are the benefits of microneedling?

Dr. Boucher successfully uses microneedling for a variety of skin types in all areas of the body. He tailors each treatment based on the thickness of your skin and your cosmetic enhancement goals to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Other benefits of microneedling include:

  • Minimal risk of scarring and infection
  • Fast and painless
  • No side effects or downtime
  • Immediate results

Dr. Boucher also uses microneedling to reduce the visibility of scars caused by acne or past surgeries. It’s an effective method for improving the appearance of stretch marks caused by childbirth or weight loss. It also helps with wrinkles, scars, texture, and acne. We offer home treatment and in-office procedure.

The technique breaks down the old skin tissue while increasing the natural production of collagen and elastin to produce new, healthier skin.
